Korean Airline

The Korean Airline is one of the most famous airlines in the world and is amongst the best in reputation and safety. The Korean Airline is among some of the best names such as Thai Airways, Singapore Airlines and Qatar Airlines.

I have noticed recently that Korean Airline has produced a new commercial which is now aired all across Asia and they have obviously spent a lot of time and money. I found it to be extremely clever marketing as what they have done is incorporated the Korean Airline branded colour of turquoise into all their advertising. The commercial is set in sepia colours like an old cinema film but there are splashes of turquoise on certain parts of the commercial which really makes it stand out. For example the Korean Airline stewardesses’ neck ties and stiletto shoes are bright turquoise as well as the ribbon on the champagne whilst being poured for a customer in first class. The suitcases in the airport are also in this colour and it shows a brief run through of smiling staff and the beautiful interior of the airline. I always find it funny how they never show a customer to be in economy class, whilst any airline is advertising their company.

When I flew via the Korean Airline I found their service to be impeccable. The stewards and stewardesses were absolutely fabulous and always smiling. The food was divine and they quickly made sure that everyone was served and the plates quickly taken away once we had finished. I found them incredibly helpful as I was travelling with three young children and was finding it very hard with one eating their dinner whilst the other wanted a cuddle and my baby needing a nappy change.

The staff of Korean Airline helped me so much with the children and because they were so friendly and always wearing a smile my children would allow them to take them to the toilet which allowed me to stay with my 8 month old daughter, Harriet. Finley and Georgia at just 4 years and 3 years respectively absolutely love flying and find everything such an adventure. It’s just what I need to see these smiles and hear their excitement as I am absolutely terrified of flying. Having watched so many disaster movies about airline crashes it terrifies me to the core! I think that although I know that flying is actually safer than driving but it’s the taking off and landing that scare me. It’s getting my head around the physics of such a large and heavy piece of machinery that can manage to take off and actually stay airborne is amazing to me.

At the moment the talk of all the problems with the world’s volcanoes erupting is terrifying me! They have grounded planes for the last few weeks in Asia due to Indonesia’s largest volcano erupting and blowing hot ash into the air. In the 1970’s a 747 flew over an erupting volcano and all 4 engines cut out forcing it to make an emergency landing. Only thanks to the quick thinking and calm pilot did that plane manage to land safely and all passengers on board were safe and well. They believed then, and they believe now that it was the hot ash that once airborne becomes like fibreglass and when it gets into the engines it can cause them to shut down. It was research from this flight 40 years ago that caused the whole of Europe to ground all planes, and stop all flights last year during the Icelandic volcano eruption. The safety of all passengers being paramount as the ash was being swept across the whole of Europe. This would have cost the airlines absolutely millions of pounds but it is always better than flying and taking the risk when it comes to so many lives.

Now that the Indonesian volcano is erupting, it is effecting Asia too as we have just heard that all flight paths have had to be changed; and therefore some airlines are not being allowed to fly at night. I am flying to Singapore next week and I am really hoping that this won’t affect us. Having three children I really would prefer not to be stuck at the airport all night waiting for a morning flight- this really would be a disaster! However being stuck in Singapore’s airport would not be so bad as it is one of the best airports in the world and even has adventure playgrounds for the children, beautiful restaurants and even a free cinema. I just hope that we are not delayed but I can think of worse places to be. I personally feel the Korean airline is one of the very best in the world and one day after writing this glowing report would hope to be offered an upgrade to first class!
